I find it really annoying when people in prime places use social networking to elevate themselves & their friends alone, lets take some of the big newspapers who frequently contact you to support their story, on places like Digg.com, try asking them to do the same for your story and they completely ignore you, however if you're someone with a bit a status you cant get rid of them.
If your a genuine social net worker you should be communicating with all people not just those who've made a bit of a name for themselves over a short or long period of time. My hat goes off to people like Mitchell Bard here you've a man who is known worldwide for his classic books and political understanding, I thanked him for his very informative book "a complete idiots guide to world war 2" despite his status he was able to take the time and write me a few words of thanks. I really appreciate it and more people in big places should do the same.
Unfair Social Networking
There are several big names on the web who I shall not mention but people for SEO reasons alone hang around their websites and use any chance to have some form of contact with the person in hope the link will increase their web presence and before long despite knowing very little these people are offering the very inferior services worldwide.
If you've something to say and you want genuine interaction with people who are into your topic of discussion the people who write you will not be seeking anything more than answer or to shed some genuine light on your subject.
I can recall one person who wrote on another persons blog how someone had been chasing him for an interview, he had the time to write on the persons blog who had a bigger name yet he completely ignored the interviewer. Genuine social networking is not based on status alone.
